Out of all the mistakes made by new Home Business Owners, 7 seem to come up repeatedly. With a few minor tweaks however, these can be avoided and as a result your home business will begin to take off.
Mistake 1) Bad Time Management.
This is a big mistake. Heaps of people who take the plunge from employee to home business owner all of a sudden discover that things have drastically changed. They don’t have to wake up early to get ready to drive to work. No longer do they have to meet deadlines. No longer do they have a boss. But what they’ve got is day time television, a pet vying for their attention, movies to watch, and a gym to visit.
They suddenly find that they have all of these tempting distractions in front of them, and their home business often becomes a second priority. Like any enterprise, you can’t expect to get results unless you’re putting in the hard yards.
The easiest way to get past this is to chop up your day into manageable chunks of time- perhaps 1 hour portions. Then make it your goal to hone in on one task at a time for that time period. Concentrate fully on it. There are going to be distractions that vi for your attention attempt to lure you away- (believe me, these day time soap operas can be quite addictive!). But pay no attention. Your financial future is more important.
At the end of each time segment, take a short rest- perhaps go and grab a snack, or go for a stroll for a minute or two. But then be sure to come straight back and start the next 60 minute segment on time. By breaking your day up like this, those seemingly overwhelming activities become a series of more manageable tasks. At first this will require some discipline, but over time things will become easier and you’ll be much more productive.
Mistake 2) Goals are non- existence.
Most of us have been told how necessary it is to set goals, but so few of us actually do so? Writing down your goals has got to be the most overlooked activity we have available to achieving results. If you’re going to start a home business, your ability to set goals and follow them through will ultimately be what determines your success. If you don’t set goals, you’re limiting your results
