If you are reading this page then you must be suffering from some form of neck pain. A pain in the neck can make even the simplest of tasks unbearable and even impossible. Movement can become restricted and the natural enthusiasm in people can fade preventing the living of a full and happy life. If any of this sounds familiar to you then you would be advised to contact a Tallahassee Chiropractor as soon as you can.

Maybe you have never heard of a chiropractor before and are unsure of what they do. Take the word chiropractic. Originally from the Greek language, it means to perform with hands. From that definition you can tell it’s a natural form of help. And compared to other options available to you it’s much safer.

If you want to know how they could help you then you have to know what is the cause of the pain. The three main parts of the neck are the bones, muscles and tendons. And even the slightest problem with any of these areas could lead to chronic pain. The number one cause is from the bones.

Any of the discs can become unaligned which leads to extreme pain and restriction of movement. But happily chiropractors can help you with this. With gentle manipulation of the spine it’s possible to re-align these discs for almost immediate relief.

The most common injury reported today is neck pain. This is not surprising as it can happen during almost any activity you do. The most severe cases come from things such as car crashes, when whiplash occurs. And another major cause is in sporting activities. Other common sufferers are professional drivers and people who sit at a desk all day.

To get relief from the discomfort in your neck, consulting a chiropractor is probably the best option you have. The procedures they use are relatively fast, completely safe and the best reason of all is that it’s totally natural.

A Tallahassee chiropractor is available to help plan and implement your pain relief solutions. You can learn the facts about natural pain management when you visit www.healthytallahassee.com .

If you\’re on your way to a black belt training, then first of all: Congratulations. Most students never make it this far. Secondly: You should know that black belt doesn\’t make you an expert… It makes you a beginner.

It\’s the black belt where you really start learning karate. Everything leading up to black is, essentially, a practice course, a tryout session. It\’s after your black belt promotion that you\’ll really be privy to the secrets and techniques that the martial arts have to offer. From here, the journey has no end. You have only passed the first trial, but if you stick with it, you\’ll only continue to get better.

So, you know that your sensei isn\’t exactly going to take it easy on you at the upcoming promotion. The black belt test is where the real martial artists are separated from the weekend warriors. They need you to prove that you can go all the way and that you have what it takes, the dedication, the passion.

The most important thing is stamina. Obviously, you\’re training both body and mind, but your body\’s going to get it the worst if you don\’t prepare…

So here\’s what you\’ll want to be doing for the weeks leading up to the promotion…

Cardio Workouts

It\’s all about how long you can last. Your test is more about how long you can go without stopping than it is about how hard you can hit, so make sure you\’ve got the stamina to go the distance. Remember, you\’re going to be doing a routine that will feel like a whole week\’s worth of classes crammed into two or three hours. Sparring, running, kata, drills, in fact, it\’s more like every day you\’ve put into Karate so far all crammed into one, so do some jogging, calisthenics, breathing exercises, just make sure that you can go two hours and not break a sweat for the first sixty minutes.

Eat Well

The last thing you want on the morning of the big day is a few extra pounds sneaking up on you out of nowhere. Eat light leading up to the test. It\’s karate tradition to stuff yourself right after a big promotion, that\’s why the old school guys all have that barrel-shaped-torso, but for the weeks leading up to it, white chicken and salad should be about as heavy as it gets.

Get Some Sleep

It\’ll be tough getting eight hours the night before the promotion, but you really don\’t want to show up short on sleep and unable to perform even a single kata without getting winded. Do whatever you have to do to get some sleep. Don\’t drink any caffeine that day, just spend the day relaxing. Obviously, you don\’t want to work out too hard the day before or you\’ll be sore for the promotion. So rest well and save your energy, because that test is going to kick your butt regardless.

Know Your Kata!

Obviously, stamina is only one half of the equation. Karate is all about training the body and mind, and knowing your kata is a huge part of that. Know all of them back to front, not just the ones you learned while training for the last few months. Your sensei is likely to throw a few surprises at you and ask you to perform the first kata you ever learned just to make sure that you\’re not forgetting where you started. So know all of them. If you\’re having trouble remembering one, ask someone at the dojo or your sensei for a quick refresher.

This article was brought to you by Martial Arts Equipment Direct where you can get quality GTMA martial arts shoes such as the GTMA Comet M/A Shoes at a good price.

It's all about the details when maximizing the effectiveness of your arm exercises. Because over the long run, small deviations in form can add up and really retard your progress.

It’s all about the details when maximizing the effectiveness of your arm exercises. Because over the long run, small deviations in form can add up and really retard your progress.

Most women aren’t even aware that they’re making said errors. It’s hard enough to show up and exercise, let alone perfect every exercise your doing.

The good news is that you don’t have to perfect every single movement to the point that it’s flawless. All you have to do is watch out for the big deviations.

So here is the important list of what NOT to do when doing arm exercises for women:

1. Heave hoeing the weight up. This is most common with barbell curls and all its variations. The problem: it places a lot of stress on your lower back and takes stress off of your biceps. Not a good thing if you want fast arm toning.

2. Letting the shoulders come up. Most common with press downs for the triceps, although some women also do this when performing curls. What’s the big deal? When you elevate the shoulders, you work your trapezius (neck) muscles, not your arm muscles. And do you really want a big neck?

3. Letting the elbows move around. This is probably the most rampant error of them all. Whether you’re doing biceps curls or triceps extensions, your elbows should always stay locked in place. Once your elbows start moving around, stress is placed on your shoulders and/or back and away from your arms.

4. Not placing weight on the heels. You should use the heels of your feet for support. This will keep you much more stable and will allow you to lift much more weight. You’re more likely to keep lower back injuries at bay by using this technique.

Avoiding the above deviations will make your arm exercises that much more effective and will also prevent injury. And although using heavier weights is critical for the fastest arm toning, never go heavy if it requires a sacrifice in form or technique. Always stay safe and lift with the best technique possible.

Regarded writer, Katherine Crawford M.S., an exercise physiologist and recent flabby arms refugee, advises women on how to avoid an expensive and invasive arm lift surgery.

It can be tough to appreciate precisely what dictates a healthy weight range for women. For some folk, it’s actually about looks. For others, it is about feeling A1 about their body. For still others, it’s all about following a sensible diet literally thru thick and thin. Truthfully none of these are the deciding factor in healthy. The state of your well-being is determined not by your preferences although they’re critical but also by your physical well being.

This implies that even if you’re thin as a rail and run ten miles a day, if you have raised blood pressure or a fragile immune response then you may not be at a healthy weight. In the same vein, if you are feeling great about your curves and haven’t let some further pounds stop you from enjoying life to the fullest, you are not healthy if you have heart issues or are in danger for diabetes. The only real way to ascertain a healthy weight range for ladies is to take account of a variety of issues.

There are some simple equations, as an example beginning at a hundred pounds for 5 feet and adding a further 5 pounds for each in. Or half-inch that you are over 5 feet. These equations don’t make allowance for health concerns, and have a propensity to come out on the low end when it comes to a variety of healthy weights.

The only way to get an overall concept of the best weight for your height and fitness is to use Body Mass Index ( BMI ). This defines how much fat and muscle you have, and how they relate to one another. A BMI measurement can be taken by most pro trainers using bioelectrical impedance, underwater weighing or skin-fold calipers. Determining a healthy weight for girls should not be regarded gently. In truth, most girls have some amount of body-image issues without regard for how fit, thick or thin they are.

you would like to be certain that you are using the right set of references when you value your body weight to make sure that knowing your private healthy weight range for girls will be a productive piece of info.

Learn all you can about foods high in potassium so you can make important changes that will benefit your entire family. Learn how to use a list of foods high in potassium to live a long, happy, healthy life.

Roller Derby was a staple of the early television era and was similar in its promotional format to its better known “sports entertainment” cousin, professional wrestling. It was frequently seen in the same bad timeslots on the same low powered UHF TV stations, and it was run by the same loose confederation of Runyanesque promoters and businessmen that characterized the regional territory era of pro wrestling. Unfortunately, roller derby didn’t catch on the way professional wrestling did. There was obviously a serious athletic component to it, but the “angles” and storylines surrounding roller derby made pro wrestling seem like Ibsen by comparison. The sport does have its own history–most know that the LA T-Birds were the perennial champions of’70’s, and Ann Calvello and Ralphie Valladares had been in the sport forever and were considered legends–but it never really stuck in the public consciousness like the pre-Hulk Hogan era of pro wrestling.

When the original purveyors of the sport quit promoting in the early’80s most thought it was dead and gone until a ‘new school’ of roller derby surfaced on cable TV via the A&E reality series Roller Girls. It featured a local, all-girl roller derby league in Austin, Texas and followed the lives of the players on and off the track. A sport that had faded into the lowest level of obscurity had been rediscovered and embraced by an eclectic group of young women. They had kept the same essential format, thrown in a healthy dose of burlesque camp and Varga pin-up inspired glamour and changed the competitive format and renamed the competitions “bouts” a la MMA or boxing. The result was a compelling mixture of glamour, toughness and athleticism driven by a healthy dose of punk rock “do it yourself” mentality.

Today, roller derby is a full blown worldwide phenomenon. There are hundreds of local roller derby leagues not only in the United States, but Canada, Australia and Europe. Most of the local groups similarly play up the campy retro pin-up/hot rod iconography and everyone involved sure looks like they’re having a good time. Between teams there’s a vibe of good natured competitiveness and camaraderie.

This organic rebirth and growth of roller derby is a result of young women taking what essentially was TV time filler and made it into their own distaff ‘action sport’. The roller derby circa 2009 is a matriarchal success story. No one is in it for the money, as these local groups are typically run as non-profit organization. The women involved have recreated this sport, and run it, promote it and compete in it on their own terms.

The new generation rollergirls also pay homage to their sports’ pioneers much in the same way that skateboarders give props to Duane Peters and Tony Alva. Many of the individual group websites have sections devoted to the history of roller derby, and the late Ann Calvello–regarded as the Queen of the original Roller Derby–is revered as something of a patron saint. The Texas Rollergirl group featured in the A&E series has renamed their championship the Calvello Cup.
