If you were a jogger, you would probably practice before ever going out to compete against others. If you are a person who swims, you would swim miles and miles before racing another person in the pool. But the same is usually not true for most people who play golf. For golfers, practice can’t always take place. Duffers may swing a few times before a round, but is all.

The best golf training is rarely done out on the golf course, and it is not always done on the practice range either. But, that isn’t to say that there are not benefits made on the fairway and tees.

You may learn the course, figure out your strengths and weaknesses, and see how you perform under heat. On the range, you can work on grooving your swing and figure out how far you will hit each club. Even on the putting green, you can work on your feel and your capability to determine a feel or read the green.

Alas, the best golf practice may well take place in the gym. Golf may seem like a leisurely sport sport, but it uses many aspects of physical fitness. One’s aerobic capacity is important because the amount of time on your feet that takes place over a few hours. The average golf course is almost five miles long, and a round of golf requires a lot of time on the feet.

Strength is also a part of the sport because of the many times you will swing the club during one round. Even if you are hitting 80 or less, you are still swinging that club several hundred times in a day. You will require a lot of strength to do that without wincing or deterioration of swing.

Golf training really should begin in the gym. Improve your aerobic ability and overall strength and you can witness an incredible improvement in your rounds.
