WordPress security is becoming a growing issue. Though the creators of WordPress and the overall WordPress community are doing a great job of identifying security vulnerabilities in the platform, there really isn’t an industry of security, malware, and anti-virus software built around WordPress like there are other software platforms. However, there are several up and comers in the WordPress security market place.
Detection and Blocking Software
SecurePress is a patent pending software that identifies typical introduction attacks and blocks them from accessing your WordPress blog. More importantly, the software shares the IP address of the hacker with the rest of the SecurePress community so that they can block the attacks before their first attempt on your site. The software installs as a simple plugin and has detailed reporting and user controls.
WordPress MalWare Detection
WP-MalWatch is a simple malware detection program for WordPress that looks for evidence of hackers. It doesn’t eradicate them from your system but it does give you a heads up as to what they have done. Though the software is in its early stages, it does show promise in helping WordPress based bloggers sleep better at night.
